Marineros Collection was designed for a project contest among my undergraduate degree classmates in sophomore year. We were a group of six members, each specialized in a different area of design. I was one of the two Creative Director of our brand Ahoy, known for its strong identity of providing a modern look based on recycling a classic and traditional style by giving it a new life.

The main source of inspiration for these jackets were English sailors of the 20th century. Every jacket in the collection has English heritage details such as horizontal blue and white lines in neck area, in the sleeves and on half of the jacket, as well as golden buttons in both the closing of the jacket and sleeves, paying tribute to the sailors. By using our jackets, the objective is for these millennial men to feel comfortable recycling the sailor tradition by using the horizontal lines and the classical marine colors in the innovative and modern garment we have designed.

PACKAGING

The packaging used for the clothing has been creativily thought through to ensure it reaches and follows the brands image. After alot of research and experimenting, the various packaging options are evident. The most common source of packaging for Ahoy will be the golden tin cans. These are recyclable cans, making them eco-friendly for the environment. It is also organic and unique, with the removal process of the lid. Making it interactive with the clients when purchasing clothing. The alternate packaging option includes a small satchel bag. This will be used for any smaller items within the brand and can also be re-used.
